Celebrating Kurdish Clothes Day<\/h4>\n

The Computer Education Department<\/a>, Faculty of Education at Tishk International University<\/a> staff and students celebrated National Kurdish Clothes Day on March 10th, 2022. This day marks a prestigious day were people across the Kurdistan Region celebrate the history of traditional Kurdish clothing by wearing their customary dresses. In many institutions across many areas, non Kurdish people are encouraged to also wear Kurdish clothes or traditional clothes according to their culture, aiming to preserve and celebrate various traditions and culture.<\/p>\n

Each area in the Kurdistan Region has its unique design, such as Mradkhani, Hawrami, Kurmanji, Sorani, and many more. Locals revere March 10, viewing the occasion as a way to celebrate and maintain their culture and heritage [1].<\/p>\n

Traditional clothing for men in Kurdistan consists of baggy pants that may be colorful, but are more often muted earth tones. Men wear plain shirts, and generally wear vests or jackets over their shirts. The outfit is completed by a large belt or sash tied around the waist.<\/p>\n

Traditional dress for male Kurds includes a turban wrapped around the head, and traditionally a dagger tucked into the large sash at the waist.<\/p>\n

Traditional dress for women in Kurdistan consists of very colorful clothing. Usually a long dress or gown is worn, over which a jacket or vest is worn. Colorful belts are included, as are colorful pants.<\/p>\n

Traditional shoes for Kurdish women are also colorful, and may be embroidered with beads or precious stones.<\/p>\n

Over the past years this style has changed, possibly due to religion. Today, older women wear darker and muted colors, while young Kurdish women and girls are the ones who wear the brightly colored traditional gowns and dresses.<\/p>\n

At Tishk International University, a ceremony was held in front of the main building, and live performances and singing were held by the Computer Education’s first stage students whom played daff music. Non-participants of the live music were present to celebrate the day and fill it with love and support. The Computer Education Department also organized lunch for its staff and students in the garden in celebration of this wonderful occasion and to mark the last day of final examinations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
