Biology Education Department is pleased to announce the launch of an international collaborative research project entitled “Water Treatment Using Crop Biomass”, which has recently received approval and funding under the International Research Network Grant Scheme \u2013 Equity THE Impact Ranking 2025.
\nThe project brings together researchers from Iraq, Indonesia, and Pakistan to address one of the most pressing global challenges: access to clean and sustainable water resources. Representing Tishk International University, Ms. Sawsan S. Hamed, academic staff member from the Biology Education Department, joins the research team alongside Dr. Ahmad H. Ibrahim from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University.<\/p>\n
The project also includes distinguished international collaborators:
\n\u2022 Dr. Maria Ulfa, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Surakarta, Indonesia.
\n\u2022 Dr. Muhammad Adnan Iqbal, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan.
\nThe research project aims to explore environmentally friendly and cost-effective approaches for water purification through the utilization of agricultural crop biomass. By transforming agricultural waste materials into valuable treatment resources, the project contributes to sustainable environmental management and supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean water, responsible consumption, and environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n
Key Objectives of the Project:<\/strong> This international partnership reflects Tishk International University’s commitment to advancing scientific research, fostering global academic cooperation, and addressing real-world environmental challenges through innovative and impactful solutions.
\n\u2022 Synthesize sustainable biogenic Fe\u2013Co\u2013Ni\/g-C\u2083N\u2084 photocatalysts using rice husk
\n\u2022 and gelatin.
\n\u2022 Characterize structural, optical, and morphological properties.
\n\u2022 Evaluate photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue.
\n\u2022 Optimize catalyst composition and operational parameters. – International Collaboration & SDGs Objectives
\n\u2022 Produce high-quality publications in Scopus\/WoS journals (2\u20134 papers).
\n\u2022 Strengthen international collaboration to enhance QS ranking indicators (citations,
\n\u2022 partnerships, and academic reputation).
\n\u2022 Expand and strengthen the network of researchers across the three universities.
\n\u2022 Contribute to SDGs: 6 , 9, 12, 13 , 14, and SDG 17.<\/p>\n
